Between the Flags, Bondi Beach.
Location: Bondi Beach, Sydney
“A network of 4 screens has increased the maximum transaction per hour three fold.”
Daniela Berger, Retail Operation Manager
Since 1994, Between the Flags (BTF) has been designing classic beach and lifestyle apparel to honour and uphold the spirit of Australia’s surf culture.
With 37,000km’s of coastline and over 11,000 beaches, Australia is best known for its outdoor lifestyle, bronzed bodies in bikinis, slick-bodied surfers and white sandy beaches. The Bondi Between the Flags store on Campbell Parade has a 26 metre frontage in a prime location on Australia’s premier beach.
A warm day down at Bondi Beach can mean hundreds of tourists flooding through the store buying gifts for themselves or family members as well as beach goers looking for their “beach supplies”. BTF would process a maximum of 50-60 transactions an hour through a two POS configuration on peak days, with queue’s to the doors. It was clear at these peak times, customers were abandoning the physical cart, or just not walking in.
Four touchscreens were installed around the store all with full range catalogue browsing, Q-buster and transactional capabilities.
Since installation the results have been outstanding. Customers are empowered with the ease of viewing our full range from one point. Our staff are faster and more confident in helping customers find items and process transactions at the screen, thus eliminating queues.
- In the week ending 5th January 2020 traditionally the busiest week of the year for the store sales increased 59% for same prior year period.
- Basket size has increased by 14% and transactions peaked at 150 per/hour.
- The counter space is being reduced to add more selling space.
Using the touchscreens in Q-buster mode enabled assisted check-out and gave staff the extra help they needed during peak times. This kept customers happy and sales flowing.
